Welcome to Day Four of the 12 Days of Solstice Poetry Challenge 2021!

Are you noticing the days getting longer? The sun dangling a bit higher in the sky? A new lightness in your body? I am, and the wonderful feeling always propels me toward new, seemingly impossible possibilities. Which are the best kind! And I’m pondering this: in my longer days ahead, what will I do, who will I be? It’s that second question that intrigues me the most.

So, what will you do with your longer days? Who will you be? Hmmm…

Today’s prompt is: LONGER DAYS.

LONGER DAYS

Light lingers longer today,
Opening doors to flirtatious, unattached hours.
Nothing else lurks beyond those doors but
Gut-tingling I-wishes that you and
Everyone breathlessly cast upward,
Reaching the dizziest of heights.

Dance through those doorways–
Allow time’s ticklish tide to grab you,
You, the catcher of impossible whales, whose
Splashy songs serenade the ways ahead.

If you’d like to share what you’ve written in response to today’s prompt, please feel free to add your poem as a comment–here or on my Facebook page where this prompt will also be posted.

Enjoy this blessed day, and I’ll see you on Day Five!

Barbara
